Minister Maxwell Now Serving Congregations In WA & CA.
Tukwila Church of Christ's First Minister James A. Maxwell Minister has completed negotiatins to increase his responsibilities to become Co-Minister of the Figueroa Church of Christ. Bro. James Maxwell along with Minister Vincent Hawkins began serving as Ministers of Figueroa Church of Christ in Los Angeles, CA beginning February 2016. Both men served the Historic congregation at differenct times in the 1990’s.
The previous minister of Figueroa Bro. Darryl Holt, passed suddenly in October 2015 while preaching a sermon before the congregation. It's been tough for the church. Figueroa CoC reached out to Maxwell and Hawkins who have kept close ties with the Figueroa the congregation since their departure to Minister to other congregations years earlier.
Bro. Hawkins and Bro. Maxwell have been friends for some time. They have much in common as well as having served the Figueroa church. Bro. Maxwell replaced Bro. Hawkins at Figueroa in 1998 as the Associate Minister the first time he served the Figueroa Church. Both are from Texas, Vincent a native of San Antonio, TX and Bro. Maxwell ministered in San Antonio in the early 1990’s; they also share the same birthday. Both men were equally and pleasantly surprised when the Elders of Figueroa reached out to them in an effort to secure their services and cast a new vision for the future of the Figueroa Church.
The transition for Minister Maxwell will be unique. Bro. Maxwell, Minister of the newly planted Tukwila Church of Christ in 2014 requested that any ministry position he would consider with the Figueroa Church would include retaining his Ministry position with the Tukwila Church of Christ in the Seattle.
